Learn About Marketing Operations With the Help of Airtable
Marketing Operations is a complex field that many professionals enter by chance, often due to the rapid growth of marketing technology. If you’re new to the field, replicating marketing operations structures in Airtable can provide a practical foundation.
Create Your Own Marketing Database
I’ve created a basic MOps Training base in Airtable with five core tables:
- People
- Orgs
- Opportunities
- Sales Team
- Activities
People Table
This table stores individual information, with fields like Email, Name, Title, and Source. The Org field links to the Orgs table, showing all individuals associated with an organization.
Orgs Table
This table stores organization data, including fields like Name, Org Type, Website, and Notes. Org Type distinguishes between ‘Prospect’ and ‘Account,’ helping track customer status. The Purchased field uses a rollup formula to pull data from Opportunities with a status of ‘Closed – Won.’
Opportunities Table
This table tracks deals with fields for Name, Offering, Stage, Amount, and Dates. Opportunities link to Orgs and Sales Team, allowing you to see deal progress and rep contributions.
Sales Team Table
Organize information about sales reps and their contributions, with fields for Role, Linked Organizations, Opportunities, and Amount Sold.
Activities Table
This table logs engagement activities like web page visits and email interactions, using a datetime field to capture timestamps. Linked to People, this table reflects how customer actions connect to sales efforts.
By setting up this Airtable base, you can simulate a marketing database structure and better understand the relationships between different marketing objects.
