Free: The Future of a Radical Price

You know that I love to do blog posts about free tools to improve productivity and you might have asked yourself “how can all this stuff be free?” The answer is in Chris Anderson’s book Free: The Future of a Radical Price. Chris Anderson is editor-in-chief of Wired and his book goes into great detail on the history of ‘free’ and what it means going forward.

I don’t know if this is a book about economics, technology, or business becuase he teaches alot of lessons on all of them. He admits that his book is actually more of a research project than a book. He looks at atoms vs bits and why atoms get more expensive while technology becomes cheaper every year (by about half) and why it soon becomes free or too cheap to meter.

Anderson looks at different economic theories and and describes how free is really possible. The book contains case studies and examples of today’s most popular free products and services and talks about what is coming tomorrow. This book will give you more information on free than you ever wanted to know and you will understand how free is the radical price of the future. Oh and another thing, his audiobook is free, of course.
