Gmail Trick for Multiple Email Addresses

To create unlimited email addresses with just your one Gmail account, all you have to do is add a plus sign (+) between your user name and @gmail.com.

If your regular email address is lastname@gmail.com, you could do any of the following:

  • lastname+additionaladdress@gmail.com
  • lastname+yetanother@gmail.com
  • lastname+finalone@gmail.com

The best thing of all is that you will still receive emails to your normal lastname@gmail.com inbox. If you’re like me and need to create many, many email addresses everyday, this trick is a lifesaver. I no longer have to create fake or temporary accounts and I can still test to make sure I receive follow up emails.

Even if you don’t need additional addresses for testing purposes, you can still use this trick when signing up for newsletter or if you want to track where an email comes from.

For example, if you want to sign up for XYZ Widgets sales emails, you could enter your email as lastname+xyzwidget@gmail.com and create a filter for anytime an email comes to that email address.  There are unlimited possibilities of what you can do with this trick.
